Winter to Spring Skin!

As winter transitions into spring, the weather in Calgary can be unpredictable, with sudden temperature swings and unexpected snowfall, its pretty typical to have these weather changes at this time of the year. This can make it challenging to take care of yourself and your skin, but here are some self-care tips you can follow to help make the transition from Winter to Spring easier.

  1. Stay Hydrated! Staying hydrated is important for your overall health, and it's especially important during the transition from winter to spring. As the weather starts to warm up, your body will need more fluids to keep you cool and prevent dehydration. Make sure to drink plenty of water and other hydrating beverages, like herbal tea or lemon water, throughout the day.

  2. Exfoliate Your Skin After a long winter, your skin can start to feel dull and dry, not only on your face, but also on your body too.. Exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother, brighter skin. Look for a gentle exfoliating scrub (I love our Eminence sugar scrubs) and exfoliate your skin when showering. Make sure to follow up with a nourishing body lotion to keep your skin hydrated (we have some picks from our Eminence line that are perfect for this. Click here).

  3. Get Outside Spending time outside in the fresh air and sunshine can be incredibly beneficial for your mental health and your soul. Even if it's still a bit chilly outside, taking a walk or spending some time in nature can help boost your mood and energy levels. Plus, the Vitamin D from the sunshine can help improve your overall health.

  4. Eat Well As the weather starts to warm up, you may find yourself craving lighter, fresher foods. Focus on incorporating plenty of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet as well as fats.

  5. Adjust Your Skincare Routine & Products The changing weather can also have an impact on your skin. As you transition from winter to spring, you may need to adjust your skincare routine to accommodate the changing conditions. This is a great time to consider booking a Spring facial and talking to your Skincare Professional about different products to use.

  6. Take Time for Yourself Self-care is important year-round, but it's especially important during this time of year.. Make sure to take time for yourself each day, whether that means taking a bath, booking a massage or simply spending some time reading a good book. Whatever helps you feel relaxed and rejuvenated, make sure to prioritize yourself.

  7. Stay Active Even if you're not a fan of winter sports (like me), staying active during the colder months can help keep your body healthy and your mood elevated. As the weather starts to warm up, look for ways to get outside more to stay active. This could mean going for a bike ride, going for a walk or going for a hike in the nearby mountains.

  8. Get Plenty of Sleep Getting enough sleep is important for your overall health, and it's especially important at this time of year as we Spring ahead and the clocks change.. Make sure to prioritize getting plenty of sleep each night, and consider incorporating relaxing bedtime rituals, like taking a warm bath or reading a book, to help you unwind and get a better night's rest.

In conclusion, the transition from winter to spring in Calgary, Canada can be challenging in many ways, but I hope these tips help make the transition easier. We have openings available and easy online booking HERE.
