The dog days of summer are here, and what better way to beat the heat than a relaxing spa treatment you can do yourself at home? Perhaps you don’t have time to go to the Spa as you are so busy traveling abroad or going camping.
How can I create my own Spa Day at Home?
If you're looking to create good DIY spa treatments you can do from home over the summer, here are some recipes and ideas to get you started. We focus on holistic and natural remedies, so you can relax and rejuvenate your body without exposing yourself to harmful chemicals. Create your at-home spa day with someone special like a partner or your teen. Light some candles and change into bathrobes for that additional spa feeling.
Cucumber-Mint Sugar Body Scrub
A sugar scrub is a great way to exfoliate your skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth. This particular recipe uses cucumber and mint, which are both cooling ingredients that will help you feel refreshed on a hot summer day.
1/3 cup fresh mint leaves
Scant2/3 cup sugar (granulated)
1/3 cup cucumber (chopped)
2 teaspoons of carrier oil (raw virgin coconut oil, melted)
Using a food processor, combine the mint leaves, sugar, and cucumber. Add the carrier oil and mix well. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
To use: Rub on wet skin in circular motions, and then rinse with warm water.

DIY Lavender-Lemon Body Oil
This body oil is perfect for summer because it's light and refreshing and won't leave your skin feeling greasy. The lavender will help you relax, while the lemon will boost your mood and leave you feeling energized.
¼ cup sweet almond oil
¼ cup jojoba oil
20 drops of lavender essential oil
15 drops of lemon essential oil
In a dark glass bottle, combine the carrier oils and essential oils. Shake well before use and store in a cool, dark place.
To use: Apply to damp skin after a shower or bath.
Honey-Avocado Face Mask
This one is perfect for summer because it's hydrating and cooling. The honey will help soothe your skin, while the avocado will provide much-needed moisture.
¼ cup ripe avocado
2 tablespoons honey (raw)
½ teaspoon cider vinegar
Mash the avocado with a fork and mix in the honey and vinegar. Apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Store in a covered container in the fridge for up to one week.

Coconut Limeade Foot Soak
This foot soak is perfect for summer because it's refreshing and invigorating. The lime will help refresh your feet, while the coconut oil will moisturize and soften your skin.
½ cup Epsom salt
¼ cup baking soda
½ cup of sea salt
½ cup coconut oil (melted)
Juice of two limes
In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Add the melted coconut oil and lime juice and stir until combined. Pour into a jar or container and store in a cool, dark place.
Add ½ cup of foot soak to a basin or tub of warm water.
Soak feet for 15-20 minutes.
Rinse with warm water and towel dry.
