Frequently Asked Bio Sculpture Gel Nail Questions

Q: What are the advantages of Bio Sculpture gel nails?
A: For people who sometimes bite or pick at their nails, there is a 90 percent success rate of stopping this habit with gel nails (also known as nail enhancements).  There are two reasons for this:  people are less likely to ruin something they’ve spent time and money on and nail biters are generally inspired by having beautiful nails for the first time in their lives. You can have the natural looking nails you have always dreamed of with gel nails!

Q: Will my natural nails continue to grow?
A: Yes, and gel nails can actually improve the health of your natural nails by protecting them from biting, picking, excess moisture and other elements that could weaken or damage your natural nails.  Bio Sculpture gel nails will help your nails grow faster.

Q: Should I let my nails breathe or take my artificial nails off for any reason?
A: Bio Sculpture gel nails will HELP your natural nails as it is more of a nail treatment than anything.  It will help your nails to grow faster and is a great alternative for women who have weak/thin nails.   Nails, just like hair are dead and do not need to breathe.  By keeping the nails trauma free, the healthy condition of the nails should not be affected with regular gel nail fill maintenance.

Q: How often do artificial nails need to be maintained?
A: Every 2-3 weeks (depending on the individual), your Nail technician will soak off the current gel nails you have on (unless you are growing out your nails with a different gel, in which case they will be soaked off when your Nail Technician tells you it’s time!).  After each “soak off” you will have beautiful gel nails that will make your friends “gelous” once again!

Q: How are gel nails different from acrylic nails?
A: Some acrylics can cause yellowing and uses harsh chemicals.  A huge advantage of Bio Sculpture gel nails is that they are odorless and transparent and feel like your natural nails.  Gel can be applied over the natural nail or over artificial nail tips.  Bio Sculpture Gel can also be soaked off in less than 15 minutes and besides the popular French look, you can also choose from a selection of colours for a different look!  Rather than completing a regular fill like other gels or acrylics on the market, Gelous Spa soaks off your gel nails each visit to give you a thin, natural looking application of Bio Sculpture each time.

Q: How long will my gel nails last?
A: Gel nails should be maintained every 2-3 weeks, but some clients can go as long as 7 weeks by using the aftercare kit. It is important to have regular visits to soak off the product because if the gel lifts away from the natural nail, moisture and bacteria can accumulate between them. Your technician can spot problem areas best and will provide adequate advice.  It is also very important to follow daily maintenance such as applying cuticle oil and hand cream daily as this will keep the nail healthy and will prevent lifting and dry cuticles.

Q: How long will it take for my nails to return to normal after removing my gel nails?
A: If your natural nails were treated correctly in the beginning, and if you’ve been maintaining your gel nails with regular visits to the studio, your natural nails will be in good condition after the gel nails are removed   The beauty of Bio Sculpture gel nails is that they can be removed easily with a gel remover which causes no harm or damage to your natural nails.

Frequently Asked Massage Questions
Q: What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?
A: We will ask you to complete a confidential health history form. Afterwards we will ask you some general questions to find out what areas you would like worked on during your massage and if there are any conditions needing to be addressed.

Q: Where will my massage session take place?
A: Your massage session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music will be played to encourage relaxation. You will lie on a comfortable table designed especially for massage.

Q: What do I wear during my massage?
A: We will give you the privacy to disrobe to your comfort level (to receive maximum benefits, we recommend that you disrobe to your underwear).  You will be covered with a sheet at all times, except the area being worked on.  If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the way you are draped/covered, please let us know and we will do all we can to ensure you feel comforable during your massage session.

Q: What do I do during my massage therapy treatment?
A: Make yourself as comfortable as possible. Many people choose to close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s completely up to you; it is your massage, so whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax.  You are welcome to ask questions at any time during your treatment.

Q: How will my massage feel?
A: Many massage therapists use a form of Swedish massage, which is used by most practitioners. Your session will start with broad, flowing strokes called effleurage to help you relax and relieve muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, deeper tissue massage may be used in the areas of muscular tension. If you feel discomfort at any time please let us know.

Q: How long will my massage treatment last?
A: Our full-body massage treatments last approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet, however if you choose this type of treatment we will ask you to pick out the areas you would like us to concentrate on.  For best results, we recommend a 60- to 90-minute massage session.

Q: How will I feel after my massage therapy treatment?
A: Most people feel very relaxed. After an initial period of feeling slowed down from their regular pace of life, many people experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days or weeks. Because toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage we recommend that you drink 2 glasses of water immediately following your massage. We also recommend a hot bath to encourage the release of toxins that may have been stirred up from your massage treatment.  This will help your body relax.

Q: Is a massage always appropriate?
A: No, there are several medical conditions that can make a massage inappropriate (it is called a contraindication). This is why we ask you to complete a health history form before we begin your session. We ask general health questions to make us aware of any conditions that could prevent us continuing with a treatment. It is very important that you inform us of any health problems or medications you are taking. For certain medical conditions, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session. We may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.
